pkmnlab is a free set of Pokémon planning tools run by one person. Using the site means accepting what is written here. It is short because the site does very little to you: it serves pages, it does arithmetic in your browser, and it asks nothing of you in return.
No permission is needed to link to a page, screenshot it, stream it, or put a result from it into a video, a guide, a Reddit reply or a Discord message. Attribution is appreciated and not required. The output of a type calculation is a fact about a game, and nobody owns it.
Everything numeric on this site is compiled from public data sources: the Pokémon Showdown data set and its Pokémon Champions module for species, typings, moves, items, abilities and format legality; Smogon's published ladder statistics for usage figures; the open PokéAPI sprite repository for artwork. Those sources can be wrong, and the compilation on top of them can be wrong too.
The site is provided as is, with no guarantee that it is correct, current or available. Competitive formats change on a fixed calendar and the legality shown here reflects the build date printed in the footer of every page, not today. Do not rely on it for anything that costs you something — check a tournament's own rules before you enter one. If you find an error, abuse@pkmnlab.com will get it fixed faster than anything else you could do about it.
This runs on one small machine. Well-behaved automated traffic is welcome: search engine
crawlers and AI crawlers that read robots.txt are explicitly allowed, and there is an
llms.txt and a set of Markdown mirrors under /ai/ put there for exactly
that purpose.
What is not welcome is pulling the JSON under /data/ at a rate that degrades the
site for the people reading it. That directory is disallowed in robots.txt; it exists
to feed this page, not to be a free API. Every one of those sources is public and better fetched
from where it originates. Traffic that ignores this may be blocked. Nor should you attempt to
break, overload or probe the site for holes.
Pokémon, the character names, and the sprites shown here are trademarks and property of Nintendo, Creatures Inc., GAME FREAK Inc. and The Pokémon Company. pkmnlab is an unofficial fan tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or produced by any of them. Sprites come from the open PokéAPI sprite repository and are used only to identify the Pokémon they depict.
The writing, the design, the layout and the code of this site are the work of its operator.
Write to abuse@pkmnlab.com with the exact URL, what the material is, what right you hold and how, and what you would like done. It will be read by a person and acted on quickly. Nobody needs to involve a lawyer to start that conversation.
This is a side project. It may go down, change, or stop. There is no uptime promise, no notice period and no obligation to support it. Because nothing of yours is stored here, nothing of yours is lost if it does — though if a particular team matters to you, save its URL somewhere of your own rather than trusting this site to be here.
To the extent the law allows it, the operator of this site is not liable for any loss arising from using it or from being unable to use it. It is a free tool for a video game.
These terms carry the date they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the version that is up.
